North Park Tree Report

New thread to keep folks updated on fallen trees blocking trails in NP: so we have many trees down. Don Schmitt is aware of their locations. Once the pool opens up and he can get away from that, he will get to them. Please continue to report here or on PTAG site. Thanks.

I was on the back nine trail today. In the pine tree section there's a trail with a blue dot that I think comes out behind the park office. It's heavily blocked.

Side note: JC Stone parking lot is closed (big piles of gravel). It would have been nice if the county had mentioned that on their website.

Schmitt cleared Ridge. Trails are rippin. He will get to lower priority deadfall soon, but you can ride every trail in NP without unclipping. Have fun. If you have some time, please feel free to call the County Parks Department (Andy Baechle) to thank Don. In addition to his normal job duties, he puts many extra hours of his time into keeping the trails clear and, now, helping the freeride build crews. He has been serving for close to 30 years and is the reason we can ride without interruption. Thanks Don!

Hehe. I wondered why I saw blood in the bed of his pick up truck. He told me it was just from a ground hog he caught under the admin building, but I have my suspicions...
