May 15 will be PTAG's first foray into making the trails in Settlers something to look forward to riding instead of something to avoid.
Join us, between 10-10:30 am at the Tomahawk shelter.
Our first task is to improve what is there and we'll be starting with repairing lots of muddy spots and building a switchback descent to replace an eroding fall line trail.
If you can help for an hour or four, please join us.
Tasks will include digging out muddy spots, bench cutting, sourcing stones for paving the trail, gravel loading, and more bench cutting. Also, crews will be cutting back "jaggers" and other annoying hazards. Finally there will be litter removal.
Wear sturdy clothes, boots and gloves. We will have water and food.
This is a project of REI, PTAG and the Allegheny Parks Foundation.
