North Ridge Expansion

Yesterday, Medrad employees came out to help work on the trail during their Day of Caring. We benchcut a decent amount of the portion of the trail towards the spillway, rerouted the exit, and put in two sweet rock crossings over drainages. Stay tuned to the PTAG site for a couple workdays. We'll have a small one between now and the middle of October to improve the older trail for the Month of Mud, and a big one at the end of October.

Come help get the Pfundstein trail ready for winter! We'll be doing a lot of bench cutting, with some rock armoring thrown in for fun. The focus will be on the southern (spillway) side of the trail, which is the side that contains the most off-camber sections. Meet at the Wisconsin Shelter at 9:00AM on Sunday 10/24. Bring sturdy shoes, gloves, water that you can carry with you, and a snack if you like. You'll probably also want to bring your bike/running shoes/hiking shoes to use the newly improved trail.

Come out for the first big workday of the year at North Park on March 6th!

Assuming we don't get hit with a late winter storm, we'll be meeting at the Lakeview shelter on N Ridge Rd to do more work on the Pfundstein trail and maybe fix up some winter damage. Bring your benchcutting gloves, because that is what's on the schedule. Perhaps some rock armoring if the mood strikes.

What to remember:
March 6th, 10:00 AM at the Lakeview Shelter on N Ridge Road (in North Park)
Bring gloves, appropriate footwear, and water that you can carry with you while you work

I and a friend are planning to come to the March 6 work day. We know nothing about trail work. Should we bring shovels or anything else?

I am planning to be there as well. I have lots of tools I can bring. Shovels, rakes, weedeaters, chainsaws. Just let me know what is needed and I can bring it.

Just gloves, shoes & clothes that you don't care to get dirty, water that you can take with you on the trail, and a snack if you like. Gloves and water that you can take with you are key items. The only tools that we ever seem to need in addition to the ones PTAG has are folding saws.

Are you sure the road will be open to get access up there? Last week the gates were both locked closed.

They will probably be open unless there is a large snowfall (and inwhich case, you shoud check here or with Rodack to see if things are still a go). But if the gates are not open, you can park behind Rose Barn and walk up the access/jeep road to the top where the Lakeview shelter parking lot will be on your left.

Given that it's supposed to rain off and on from now until sometime Sunday afternoon, the workday this Sunday is cancelled. We'll try again in a few weeks when it hopefully drys out a bit.

Come help out on the Pfundstein trail on Saturday April 16th. Meet at the Lakeview Shelter on N Ridge Rd . Workday from 9:00 to 12:00. If you come after we’ve started, just walk past the shelter into the woods to intersect the trail. We’ll be working in the area of Lakeview shelter and fixing up some winter damage as required. Bring gloves, water in a bottle or something you can carry with you, and appropriate footwear for playing in the dirt.
