Squeaky front disc

Postby Shaggy » Mon May 05, 2008 8:29 pm

I have Avid mechanicals on a unsuspended singlespeed. I just put a new fork on and now the front disc squeaks when braking. I tried new pads and re-aligned the calipers. Any suggestions on how to make it stop?! Thanks!

Which avids? Try taking some 1000 grit sandpaper to both sides of the disk to see if that helps. (clean with alcohol or brake clean) Is the disc true?

Try switching your rotors front to back and see if it quits, or borrow someone else's front wheel. Sounds like the rotor is contaminated somehow.
