RE: Allegheny County PPP Meeting
Wednesday, June 13, 5:30 – 8:00 p.m.
Regional Enterprise Tower, 31st Floor, Downtown Pittsburgh
Date: April 27, 2007
On behalf of the Allegheny County Public Participation Panel, we want to extend an invitation to you to participate in a transportation public comment forum on June 13, 2007.
The purpose of this meeting is to solicit public comment on four independent documents:
2035 Transportation and Development Plan for Southwestern Pennsylvania, this document sets the thirty-year transportation and development vision for the region;
Air Quality Conformity Report for Southwestern Pennsylvania, this document summarizes the air quality impacts of the development strategies identified in the long-range transportation and development plan;
Environmental Justice Benefits and Burdens Assessment for the 2035 Transportation and Development Plan for Southwestern Pennsylvania, and
The Southwestern Pennsylvania Commission’s Participation Plan, which outlines the Southwestern Pennsylvania Commissions plans and programs for involving the public in the transportation decision-making process.
At this meeting, SPC will also be soliciting public comment and testimony in the development of the 2009-2012 Transportation Improvement Program for Southwestern Pennsylvania, in anticipation of the August 29, 2007 public hearing of the State Transportation Commission, in Pittsburgh.
We also wish to extend an invitation to new PPP members to join us 30 minutes prior to the start of the meeting for a brief orientation session in which your role and responsibility as a PPP member will be described. Feel free to ask questions during this session. It will be conducted by a member of the SPC staff.
As you can see, the Public Participation Panel meeting scheduled for June 13, 2007 will solicit public comment on a wide variety of transportation and development issues. Please make every effort to attend.
Copies of the four documents identified above, as well as the 2007-2010 Transportation Improvement Program will be available for review online and at local libraries starting May 21, 2007. For an online copy of the documents, and a list of local libraries at which the documents are available, visit http://www.spcregion.org after May 20, 2007. Comments on these draft documents will be accepted through June 21, 2007.
